Nursey Room

The planning behind Maximus's Nursery
Interior Designer (Christine Julian) helped me come up with a concept for my son's nursery room. I wanted something that was unique, inspiring and most of all went along with my son's name Maximus. And when you hear the name Maximus, most people recognize the name from the movie "Gladiator" and the origin name is from the Latin language meaning "The Greatest."

Inspired by a Roman pool my first step towards the nursery room was the wall colors. Colors that we choose were royal blue, sky blue, white and metallic gold.

The hardest step to completing the nursey was the bedding. It was really hard to find a classic baby bedding that wasn't out of my price range.

I saved this image of bedding that I admired and from there I had help from my interior designer (Christine Julian) to recreate the look of the bedding. First step was choosing the fabrics and pattern.

And from there the sewing project begins

The nursery is complete, the baby had arrived and the room is fit for a king! The blues are relaxing and calm.

FALL PREP BABY

Story behind the look
About a year ago I visited Orono, Maine for the first time. Such a incredible place!  One of my favorite adventures I had there was when I went whale watching. There was something about the cold wind and the boat rushing over to spot the whales that just got me excited. There is so much in the ocean to explore! So when Gap kids came out with the collection Maine, I saw the whale sweater and right away had to snatch it.  It is one of my favorite piece of clothing my son owns. And it's thick enough that I can use as a jacket as well. And I have gotten so many compliments from his sweater. I paired the sweather up with jeans and a cozy cap because I remember well that I needed a warm cap to cover my ears during my boat ride for whale watching. Also mustard yellow colored Toms shoes make the outfit really pop! Go ahead and explore the ocean with your child!

PETER RABBIT

BabyGAP does it again! They introduce the limited-edition collection of Peter Rabbit. With celebs celebrating the collection at BabyGAP's launch party. The crave for the little blue sweater has been on the trend watch. It's a spring must-have outfit!

My Darling Dear

Everyday that has passed
You have growed oh so fast
Your little feet
The way you now eat
You make this Momma's life COMPLETE

MAXIMUS THE CHARACTER,

CAME FROM A FAIRY TALE THEY SAY

HE WAS MADE OUT OF A WISH

AND THE PARENTS WATCHED AS HE CAME TO LIFE ONE DAY

Wild Turkey Day

This Thanksgiving year was different from all the other years, because I was not able to travel to see all my family members. So it got me thinking about what I can do to make this one special. I wanted to find a way to have my small family to also have a big event. Thanksgiving does not invole religion which makes it special for everyone in America to celebrate. Maximus might be too young to remember by memory but through the pictures and the stories I write about, he will know about his wild turkey day! And wild turkey day it was! It all started when I found the turkey costume, I couldn't resist getting the whole family into character, because it made it even more comical.
The day started by getting ready and catching the metro train to down town Chicago where we started our adventure towards the Chicago's Thanksgiving Day parade. As we arrived on state street, the crowd was already too large so we had  to wiggle our way into a good spot where we could see everything happening in the parade. Maximus loved the music of the marching band and loved the giant balloons floating over. It was well worth it to see the parade in person. So many people commented on the costumes saying that it gives off the Thanksgiving Day spirit feeling! I am glad.
Well we made it back home and started cooking. As we cooked we listened to a playlist of music I created ahead of time just for Thanksgiving Day.. 'got to rattle those pot and pans' ;) We ended our night with a well deserved feast and a movie. I hope next year turns out as fun as this one did!
